Ping... [1]

Après en avoir parlé il y a longtemps, et y avoir réfléchi pendant un moment (mine de rien), on commence notre ping-pong photographique avec Gérard ! Et le service est pour moi. On s'est dit qu'on ferait un échange par semaine, mais en fait c'est pour le moment la seule règle établie. Je suppose qu'au fur et à mesure il y aura un fil plus ou moins visible qui fera le lien entre nos photos... Le pong devrait donc arriver dans la semaine qui vient à cette adresse.




There we go, I'm starting a photography ping-pong with Gérard, something we thought about a long time ago already, and it was about time! So the first shot is for me. We're planning on a one exchange per week rythm, but for now this is the only rule we thought of. I guess there will be some link between every photo as time passes. The pong should be there during the coming week, on this page.

Wasn't really a boat though...

But I missed it anyway.
For sure life is really beautiful, and strange too, but in a good way.

また帰ってた

So I'm back, finally, and with a warmer welcome than I could dream of. Actually it feels like I never left Japan, though people went forward, it's still the same here and that is great!
I've been quite busy sleeping lately, which slows things down a little. And of course I met some of my friends who weren't there on my first weekend here. But I also got my room back, and as Amandine settled down a little more than last year, my room was the only place with nothing on the walls. So I made the first part of my photo wall, mostly with 2007's pictures, and I like it. The second part will come later, for now I have to work on my résumé in English and Japanese.

Anyway, right now I'm stucked with a crappy Internet connection, trying to upload some pictures for my other blog, and it's surprisingly fast compared to the days before, but still too slow. And for some reason I don't understand, I cannot be connected if my computer is anywhere else than on the kitchen's table, or my room's table but only yesterday...

Well, some pictures are ready to be published so time to use my publishing skills. I'll be back here in a few days (yeah I know, "a few days" doesn't mean anything).
Speaking of these pictures, for different reasons (sometimes not inspired, too busy to take pictures, too cold outside, I also wanted to take more pictures of people...) I had some days whitout photos, and though it happened before, it was rare and I used another day's picture instead, but for last November and December I can't do that. So there will be days without photos from now on, and that's it.




Je suis finalement de retour, et j'ai eu droit à un accueil plus chaleureux encore que ce dont j'aurais pu rêver. Les derniers jours m'ont donné l'impression que je n'ai jamais quitté le Japon. Des choses ont changé, les gens ont avancé, mais il y a quelque chose qui est resté comme avant et qui fait que je me sens bien ici.
J'ai profité de la semaine dernière pour dormir, beaucoup, et ça m'a pas mal occupé, ça faisait longtemps. J'ai aussi revu des amis qui n'étaient pas là lors des premières soirées (l'avantage d'être arrivé un vendredi, on peut revoir presque tout le monde d'un coup). Et je suis de retour dans ma chambre, chez moi. Amandine s'est beaucoup plus installée que la première année, et ma chambre était le seul endroit de l'appartement à ne pas être décoré, donc je m'y suis un peu attelé. J'ai fait la première partie de mon mur de photos, avec des photos de ma première année ici principalement, et le résultat me plait bien ! Je m'occuperai de la suite plus tard, maintenant il va falloir que je prépare mon CV en anglais et en japonais.

Bon, et pour l'instant je me traine une connexion internet moisie, un wifi non sécurisé que je ne capte que si mon pc est sur la table de la cuisine, et auquel je n'arrive à me connecter que de temps en temps, à heure variable. Je ne comprends pas vraiment comment ça fonctionne, j'ai fait tout l'immeuble avec mon portable pour voir s'il n'y avait pas un endroit d'où la réception serait meilleure, mais impossible de trouver mieux. Donc j'essaye désespérément de mettre des photos en ligne, et par chance c'est beaucoup plus rapide aujourd'hui que les jours précédents (ça reste terriblement lent cela dit).

Bref, il y en a quelques unes qui sont prêtes, donc j'y vais de ce pas, je repasserai ici dans quelques jours (ce qui veut aussi bien dire demain que dans 3 semaines).
En parlant de ces photos, j'ai eu quelques jours sans photos ces derniers mois, pour différentes raisons (pas inspiré, pas le temps, trop froid pour faire les photos que je voulais en extérieur, envie de faire plus de portrait...) et bien que ça me soit déjà arrivé l'année dernière, ça restait rare et je prenais une photo d'un autre jour pour remplacer. Mais pour les mois de novembre et décembre, je ne peux même pas faire ça, donc je me suis fait une raison, à partir de maintenant il y aura des jours sans photos.
Et puis maintenant j'ai faim (et comme c'est venu entre-temps ça ne sera écrit qu'en français).

Lone wolves

Premier petit plaisir de ce mois de mars, le passage à Paris de We Are Wolves, un groupe québécois un peu déjanté que je ne m'attendais pas à voir dans le coin. C'est encore un groupe que Rémi m'a fait découvrir, à l'époque où on était au Japon tous les deux, et à ce moment-là j'avais vraiment accroché. Ils n'avaient sorti qu'un album "Non Stop Je Te Plie En Deux" mais c'était déjà très bon ! Avec la formation assez atypique qu'ils ont (le chanteur joue sur sa basse comme on jouerait de la guitare électrique, le batteur est debout et le claviériste s'éclate sur des vieux sons bien synthétiques), ils arrivent à faire de la musique assez brute, parfois très agressive, avec juste ce qu'il faut de sons torturés pour me plaire. C'est spontané et sans prétention, et c'est tout simplement la grande classe.
Du coup le concert, en compagnie de Rémi, était très sympa aussi. Le batteur était en retrait et tout caché derrière ses cheveux mais le chanteur/bassiste et le claviériste s'amusaient bien, leur complicité rendait le concert d'autant plus chaleureux. Ils nous ont fait une bonne partie de leur deuxième album "Total Magique", que Rémi ne connaissait malheureusement pas, mais on a quand même eu droit à "La Nature" en rappel, et ça, C'EST BON ! Mention spéciale pour moi au morceau "Vamos a la playa", une instru de leur second album qui était complètement jouissive ! C'était d'ailleurs le meilleur moment pour les prendre en photo, mais sur le coup j'étais trop occupé à profiter de la musique, et les quelques photos correctes (elles sont presques toutes ratées : floues ou bruitées) s'étalent sur les 3 ou 4 derniers morceaux.
Une bonne introduction musicale à 2009, qui a aussi bien débuté pour moi avec le nouvel album de General Elektriks (mais j'en reparlerai après le concert), le dernier Prodigy, le prochain pAper chAse, de quoi flatter mes oreilles pendant de longues heures !




To start March with a little pleasure, I went to a live of We Are Wolves, a small band from Montreal that I wasn't actually expecting to see in Paris. This is anothe band I discovered through Rémi, while we were working together in Japan. It was more than one year ago, and they had only their first album released at this moment: "Non Stop Je Te Plie En Deux". A pretty good album indeed. The band's formation is a bit original, the singer is also playing the bass like he would play the guitar, the drummer is always standing up, and the keyboards player is torturing his keyboards to get crazy old sounds. But their music is really great, punchy, aggressive, with these distorted sounds I love so much. They're just playing and enjoying it, and they rock!
So Rémi and I enjoyed their show. The drummer was a little hidden behind the two others, and his hairs too, but the others were really having fun, and seeing them laughing and joking made their show even better. They almost played only songs from their second album "Total Magique", which Rémi didn't know, but we were lucky, they played "La Nature" at the end of the show, and THIS IS SOME GOOD TUNE! (nigga) xD I also loved their song "Vamos a la playa", this song's just awesome! This was actually the best moment of the show for me to take pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the song, so I only took pictures at the end of the show, only a few ones and most of them are crappy.
Anyway, this was a good musical step of 2009, which already started well with the last album of General Elektriks (I'll tell you more about it after his show), the new Prodigy album, the next one of the pAper chAse coming in April or May, enough good things to forget the sound of silence for a while.

The Tourist

Yesterday evening I was walking to the subway station with my friend Jenifer, and some people asked for help to find the Opera, in English. I came back from Japan six month ago, and I don't remember of any opportunity to speak English since that time. I read books and stuff in English, I listen to people speaking English all day long at work, I watch movies in English, I mean, I still have to improve a lot, but I understand English quite well. But understanding and speaking are two different things, and at the moment, I was afraid of being unable to find my words, I thought I would need too much time to make a sentence... And I was so surprised and pleased when I spoke, for words came by themselves.
I miss that, and I can't get rid of this anguish so far.

This comes with the return of the killer tomatoes...
